Via strives to provide the community with healthy living information and education. Health seminars, screenings, clinics, and education.

Wellness screenings are held regularly to monitor blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol. Blood pressure machines can also be found near the fitness center and the health clinic area. Other screenings held throughout the year include eye exams, hearing tests, skin screenings, and bone and joint health.

Seminars and educational opportunities are provided by local health professionals on topics such as skin cancer, dementia, diabetes, eye care, arthritis and nutrition. Area health organizations also provide yearly flu shot and pneumonia vaccine clinics.

Many of our Community Partners participate in programs and screenings.

Fitness

According to the National Exercise Trainers Association and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, people who exercise on a regular basis show immediate and long lasting benefits. Exercise can help regulate blood sugar levels and can stimulate the adrenal system.

Exercising on a regular basis can also improve your quality of sleep and can enhance your quality of life. Even if you have never exercised, it is never too late to start. Any activity can be helpful to your body.

Via offers a wide variety of exercise areas and classes for any fitness level. Our Fitness Center provides state-of-the-art equipment in a clean and comfortable environment. Our class instructors provide professional, certified guidance.

You will find the following recommended types of fitness activities at Via:


    • Endurance activities - like walking or riding a recumbent bike - which build stamina and improve the health of the heart and circulatory system
    • Strengthening exercises which build muscle tissue and reduce age-related muscle loss
    • Stretching exercises to keep the body limber and flexible
    • Balance exercises to reduce the chances of a fall

Popular exercise classes include yoga, Pilates, stability ball, Tai Chi, stretching/flexibility and Silver Sneakers® and Silver&Fit.
